Inspired from a blog that I really enjoy following (aka... stalking) : The Rockstar Diaries. (More specifically, this post) I wish I could be as cool as them. Check 'em out!

Moving along... 10 things that (currently) make me happy, but in Wordless Wednesday format! KaCHING... I'm so good at mixing and matching.

1)Dressing up for parties with the coolest people ever!
2)I did my best to cut down the kitty pictures to one. Included is the most stellar bf ever!!
3)Random pictures taken with the digital that actually turn out pretty damn good. (Surprising me!)
4) Monthly dinners with my 2nd fam

Will we ever...

Make it longer than 2 weeks without... a snowstorm?
(I literally just took this picture about 5 minutes ago. You can see Mama Jack outside the window, doing her best to ignore the snow and take a nap.)

It makes me a little bit crazy inside.

Updates of Cuteness?

Sgt. Pepper curled into a ball on the couch, and was the very definition of adorable sleeping kitty.

Wink however, is the definition of 100% goofball.
The Boy was playing a video game, and she started attacking his wrist, and shortly after started to fall asleep. She relaxed into what must have been the most uncomfortable position, but we couldn't get her to lay forward. So, we just left her bent in half backwards and snapped pictures instead. Too damn cute. :)

The Boy had yesterday off (as well as today) so we've been doing a whole lot of nothing. And it has been glorious!
Our 4runner is back up and running (after I tried to blow it up...). It only cost $350 in parts to repair it. I am eternally grateful that The Boy is a mechanic, and can manage to fix whatever I manage to break.

Speaking of breaking things. I have a theory about myself. We all know the story of Midas, the king with the golden touch, right? Well... I am Mel, the female with the breaking touch. I break things, and I don't know how. The 4runner? I don't know if this was entirely my fault, but I was driving it when the fan exploded and punched a hole in the hood of my baby. (Punching holes in the radiator, battery, and the resonator of the cool air intake system.) Other things that I should stay away from? Our vacuum cleaner. But that could be because we have shag carpet... Next thing? Our dishes. We have cheap stuff from Walmart, but we have managed to break most of our tall glasses, but very few of our short glasses. The list could go on, but it's better if I stop, for fear of jinxing myself further.

So, it's been awhile, but I need to do it again. Another plug for my Etsy store... Check me out at HandMadeDanglies.etsy.com. I have been kind of frustrated with the lack of sales, but then again, I have not advertised myself very well. One of my neighbors and I are thinking of selling our stuff at local festivals and fairs this summer. We want to share a booth, so as to cut down the cost of being there, so that we can focus more on selling our items. Other than etsy, I have found 3 other possible places to sell my stuff. Right now, I am kind of relying on word of mouth. If I give enough of my earrings away to friends, then their friends will ask where they can find my stuff. That and I want to get mini-business cards made (or make them myself) so that when I do sell something on etsy I can send them my card, and hopefully keep them coming back. I think I need to get on that, so I am prepared for when my stuff starts selling.
I have considered selling at the local farmer's market, but from the handful of people I've talked to... it's kind of a hassle, and a pain in the rear. Still thinking on it.

Well, I would love to keep updating you all, but J and I are apparently going to some lunch thingy at the roommates lady's workplace. I have to go make myself presentable (right now I don't even dare look in a mirror!)

Much love to you all, and wish you guys a fantabulous weekend!

Bagheera... I love you!

Well. The first of the three kittens has been taken home! They are all (for the most part) weaned. And... good to go. I just wasn't expecting it to happen this fast. Bagheera was the only boy (of three) and a complete whiner. I never thought he would go to a good home. How'd it happen?

Well, The Boys's brother and girlfriend L have been wanting pets for awhile. They came by tonite for a short visit, and ended up going home with a kitten. I sent them on their way with Bagheera packed in a Mickey's box, with a small supply of kitten food and litter box stuff. As well as a shirt that the kittens had been sleeping with.

I'm not sure if Mama Jack fully understands that she'll probably never see Bagheera again. I guess she'll figure it out soon enough. (As B and L were walking away, I was holding Mama Jack, and having her sniff Bagheera in the box. I don't know if it did any good... I hope.)

I'm so glad to have found a home for him. I was worried that no one would want him, but L was determind to have him. I'm glad that he's with family, so that I can visit, and make sure that he's doing alright. (L has had a lot of different pets, so I wasn't too nervous about her taking him. That and he fell asleep on her. Something he never did with me!)

So, my dearest followers. Say goodbye to Bagheera! He has gone away to a loving and happy home, which is all that I dared ask for.

(The picture of Bagheera is him at 3 weeks old)

Sgt. Pepper in greater detail... (For Kris)

Be prepared, there is a lot of cuteness about to ensue. :)

This little ball of fluffy (and I mean FLUFFY) -ness is Sgt. Pepper. She is all that is adorable and cute.

One of her favorite things to do? Crawl into really weird places... (She was the first crawl up the blanket onto the box they sleep in, then she proceeded to jump off.... and repeat. Several times.)

Sgt. and her sister Wink (crawling out of the box) are the instigators of many many adventures.

The first one to start playing with the other kittens. (Sgt is the one with her paw on the black kitten)

Chases shadows! (Would probably keel over with excitement with a laser-pointer)

Super playful. Will chase, attack, chew on anything. Especially fences, power-cords, and moving toes.

Shoulder kittens. It's what they do.

They love to pretend they are parrots, and perch on someone's shoulder. (Sgt. Pep is the one on the right, with her paws hanging down The Boy's chest)

Seeeeee how cute they are?
(Sgt. P is chewing on her paw)

And best of all... she's a great neck-warmer. She loves to do the parrot thing, and then pass out for a short nap. :)

So Kris, come with Art to pick her up, she is available to take home whenever you are ready. :) (scroll down - a lot - for more pics of the other kittens!!)

Out of the loop

On Thursday while sitting in class, I had a grand realization. Next week is the last week of classes, and the week following that is finals.

How did this crap sneak up on me?

I've been texting a friend that is in my Thursday class. I was letting him know how class was, and wanted to make sure he wasn't "out of the loop." I then decided that I actually don't mind being out of the loop on campus events. I used to be very on top of things like that, but this year, I can barely manage to figure out what day it is. I am constantly looking at the syllabus for my Ancient Lit Class (Tues&Thurs) to double check what I'm supposed to have read. Not really paying attention to the date... I've been fine with anatomy, because all I have to do is show up and open my notebook. They remind us when stuff is happening (like the lab quiz that snuck up on me...) about a week before it happens.

I think I need to get my head back on straight... I've become slightly (HA! ok, very...) lazy this semester, and need to get my butt in gear.

The kittens aren't helping me much. Mama Jack is sitting outside the door meowing, and the kittens are just so damn CUTE! I need to run a few errands, let some dogs out, and keep a close eye on Wink (we had a trip to the vet yesterday... One of the neighbor girls stumbled and landed on another girls lap, where Wink was. When I finally got my hands on the poor girl, her jaw was dislocated, and she was bleeding. I about crapped myself, I was so freaked out. I shooed the girls home and put Wink in a box (a beer box actually, lol) for a trip to the vet. Turns out she's ok. The soft tissue around her jaw was torn, and the vet re-set her jaw, and said that she should be ok if we leave it. I have to take her back in two weeks for a check-up, and to see if it healed on it's own. If not, she'll need surgery to wire her jaw into proper position. She seems to be ok though. Running and harassing the other kittens aren't phasing her at all. I'm just so glad that she's ok...!)

I think I'm gonna go get dressed, and try to accomplish something today! Wheeeeee!

Other updates in the world. At least... in my world! It's gorgeous and sunny outside. :) I hope that it stays like this for a looooong time!

Totally Awkward Tuesdays!

So... first off, I am currently sitting at work.
It is raining outside, and I'm wearing a really soft zip up hoody that my older sister sent me for Christmas (Thanks C!). I for some reason decided that since I'm going to the bar tonite, it'd be a good day to wear my shirt that says "One Time Doesn't Make You Gay." Awesomeness courtesy of Ms. Samma-Lamma, who used to work in a screen-printing shop.

This shirt always draws lots of attention, and the last time I wore it, I got strange looks from my coworkers (Ah... beauty of living in a conservative and very religious state, and going to school and working on a campus that is predominantly LDS.). Today, since it is raining, I figured that the school would get confused and not adjust the heat/AC settings in the building. It's not cold like it normally is, and it's a little bit muggy because of the rain. I am starting to sweat to death, but don't dare take my jacket off, because of my shirt. Jeez, why do I do this stuff to myself?

Kitty Update!

The little monsters are now 5 weeks old, and so beyond adorable. :) I never want to give them away, and want to secretly hide them in my closet. In the closet, so that the landlord wouldn't "know" about them being in the house. He tolerates the kittens because they are A)adorable B) kittens! C) They're not technically in our apartment. They just live on our front porch and D) Did I mention they are seriously adorable?

Bagheera (the black kitten) has me a little bit worried. He is a lot skinnier than his sisters (Wink and Sgt. Pepper) and can't seem to fight his way in for a good position on one of Mama J's teets. I bought a kitten care kit ( I swear I am not getting attached!) to make sure he gets a good couple of meals a day. Little monster started falling asleep on the counter this afternoon while he was eating.
Here he is tryin to take a snooze!
Isn't this little monster adorable? And look! His eyes are (and the others as well) starting to change color. They have green rings around the pupil, and the outer ring is still blue. Absolutely beautiful!
Oh, this is The Boy with Wink (the resident favorite). Pirates have parrots, why can't hippies have kittens that sit on their shoulders? I think it looks fabulous!
Oh, it finally was warm and sunny outside yesterday. I sat and played and loved on the kittens for about 45 minutes. (Or maybe it was longer...) I had been sitting petting Wink, and Bagheera starts doing this. Pretty sure he demanded that I play with him. Doesn't he look like a teddy-bear?

And The Roomie. With Sgt. Pepper. :)

How are you guys doing?

Kitty Babies are now 4 weeks!

Cutest kittens on the planet!

Mama Jack was not amused by Bagheera's attempt at getting close to the end of the porch. He kept trying at it, and eventually she just sat on him. Hahaha
Apparently Sgt. Pepper (left) is totally into play fighting. Wink(right) wasn't sure what to do... How cute!

Bagheera. He's a fluffy little freak.

Can you see all three kittens? This is also right before Mama Jack sat on Bagheera...

And Sgt. Pepper (left) and Wink (right) sittin in their box. :)

All kittens are doing well, and I think are getting close to the point where we can wean them, and litter train them. They can crawl out of the dog kennel, and back in by themselves. :)

I'm so in love with these kittens. It'll be a sad sad day when I have to give them away.

Kit Kit's 3 weeks!

Kitty babies are now 3 weeks, and 1 day old. They finally look like kittens, and no longer like small rodents (ie, gerbils, hamsters). Their eyes are open, and they seem like they are pretty much aware of their surroundings.

We've named them Wink, Sgt. Pepper, and Bagheera. They are pretty dang cute, and I want to keep them, and cuddle them, and make them mine! But, I can't. So I'll settle for getting Mama Jack fixed, and adopting her as my outside cat. :)

All three kitties, after I woke them up from nap-time. (The duct tape is holding down plastic that covers the outside of the box.)

This is Sgt. Pepper. She's my favorite. :) She has no problems with me picking her up, and carrying her around.

This is Bagheera. The only boy in a home of females. Poor kitty. :) He's kind of a whiner. While Wink and Sgt. Pepper have no problem with me picking them up and loving on them, Bagheera always freaks out, and cries the whole time.
This is Wink. She is adorable, and is Samma-lama's future kitty baby. :)

All three after their photoshoot. Now they're up and curious!

I'm already totally attached, and want to keep them in the family. The Roomie refuses to touch/play/hold them because he doesn't want to get attached... Whatever. I'm going to enjoy the kittens while I can!

Wink hanging out with The Boy. (Don't tell the landlords that I occasionally sneak the kittens in! But hey, aren't kittens hypoallergenic? :) I'll make up excuses, which will mainly be grounded on their cuteness...)

Ok, so I sneak the kittens in, but Mama Jack isn't allowed inside. Period. Long hair is pretty dang difficult to remove from the shag. This is Mama pawing at the door, demanding that I bring her her lunch. She does this when there is something she wants (ie, food, water, attention). Sad thing is... is it usually works. Spoiled brat!

Days in a row...

I can't believe that I have done this two days in a row. Completely forgot an essential to my life, left it at home on top of the hutch. I can get by without it, but it baffles me as to why I spaced out such an important item.

BAD BAD BRAIN!!!

Maybe it's because I watched Hellboy last night instead of memorizing stuff for anatomy. Thank you Murphy... for being the reigning downer in my life! (Murphy being... Murphy's Law. If something can possibly go wrong, it will. Because Murphy is a jerkface. )

But I will smile anyways today, because my hair smells ridiculously awesome today!
(Image kidnapped from : here)

Onward and upward from here on out. :)

(OH! Update on the kittens. Eyes are open, and their paws have exploded in size- outgrowing their mini-hamster bodies. They are so freaking cute. :) Mama Jack is spending more and more time outside of the box. Only coming back to check on them when she hears the annoying squeak of our front door opening. )

Kitty Babies!

All 3 opened their eyes today. Well, barely. Hehehe. They are so freaking adorable.

This is the black baby. First to open it's eyes. :)
Another view of the black baby. It's so adorable.
This is the unclaimed Calico. Anybody want it? It needs a nice happy loving home!!
This last calico is Samma-lamma's future baby. SO cute. :)

I can't help myself. I can't stop talking/posting/facebooking about the kitty babies. What can I say? I'm in love!

IT'S OFFICIAL!!! We're PARENTS!!!

Buwahahaha. That was just to get everyone's attention. No. I am not having children. Two of my sisters are pregnant, and after my mom told me that J was preggers, she asked me if I had anything exciting to announce. I looked at her and said "NO! Kittens are enough. Maybe someday I'll upgrade and get a fish (not likely) or a puppy."

And... now everyone's asking about the kittens! :) They are so adorable.

Story began a few months ago, we noticed a stray hanging around. We called him "Grey Kitty." But Grey Kitty was a-social and would only let the Mailman (our next-door neighbor) pet him. After having shoveled snow one evening, I went and chatted with the Mailman. I told him that we occasionally put food out for Grey Kitty, and I asked him if Kitty were a boy or girl. He told me, "I don't know. I tried checking once, but he's just as furry on bottom as he is on top!" I about died laughing when he said that. Mailman picked up Grey Kitty and passed him to me. Instant friends! :)

After that, Grey Kitty started being more friendly with The Boy, The Roomie and I. :) To the point he would hang out on our front porch and meow until we came out and petted him. The Roomie renamed Grey Kitty as "Captain Simple Jack." (The Simple Jack reference being from "Tropic Thunder." Not sure about the Captain part...)

Last week, we noticed Cpt. Simple Jack was sleeping in a bag of potting soil that we had on our front porch. No problem, right? Cpt. Simple Jack looked a little bigger around the middle, but when we picked him up, he still felt like skin and bones.

Enter Monday morning. The Mailman had heard strange noises all night long, and just thought it was some of the other cats in the neighborhood fighting. As James left for work he heard/saw Cpt. Simple Jack moving in circles in the bag of potting soil. At about 11am, The Boy and I went outside, and discovered that in fact, Cpt. Simple Jack is not a he, but a she! Mama Jack (poor cat has gone through a lot of names with us. ) gave birth to 3 kittens in our bag of potting soil. There are two calicos, and a black one. They are so cute. :) And we upgraded Mama Jack's bag of potting soil to a cardboard box (with a towel inside, and plastic and fleece around the outside.)

In these pictures, the kittens are only two days old. They were born on March 9th. :)
